Verum's Place is located at the South end of Creator Lake in the Han Loso region of Second Life. The community center offers reading and screening rooms, discussions, philosophy meetings, the People's Theatre and educator facilities with some of the best educational tools available on the platform.

Teaching at Verum's Place

There are two programs offered to educators at Verum's Place: volunteer and fee-based instruction.

General Information

Volunteer Instructors

===========================

The volunteer is the program suggested for newbies learning the ropes of Second Life.  In addition to getting your feet wet, you are given full access to all available tools and are privvy to upcoming projects. You will have access to the finest SL educational tools available. We ask for a minimum of a five-week committment and if you teach academic subjects must provide credential information for verification. All information is confidential.

If you teach introductory courses, religion/spirituality, art or facilitate a discussion credentials are not required.

All instructors are asked to prepare a class description, a brief bio that can be posted on the website and in event listings and dates/times available for your class. If you have a preference to teach in a certain area at Verum's Place please let us know in advance otherwise you will be placed within the usual instruction area.

Fee-Based

==========================

Fee-based instructors are given access to all areas just as volunteers are, but are encouraged to use secure areas built exclusively for workshops and fee-based classes.

As a fee-based instructor you will be given a landmark to the area the class is located, but students are restricted from taking landmarks and will have to be teleported into the area. This keeps griefing and security risks at a minimum and allows the students to focus on the lesson.

** Like volunteer instructors, if you teach academic subjects other than introductory courses your credentials must be verifiable.

You are provided with advertising, space, tools and whatever audio is available.

FEES

===========================

The instructor receives full tuition directly from the students and provides an access list to Verum's Place 24 hours before class begins so each student can be added to the list.

Your first class is free of charge. After the first class you are charged $L1000. per hour ($4.00 USD).

This fee is due and payable 24 hours before the class begins. If you have scheduling problems or must re-schedule a class session due to interruption of service from LL/Second Life classes can be extended or you can ask for a Saturday class.

Verum's Place is not liable for technical problems associated with the SL platform. We can provide you with the space you need, but if you abuse your priviledges you will no longer be allowed to instruct at this establishment.

REFUNDS

============================

Verum's Place does not offer refunds. We will provide you with space for your classes and the rest is up to you. If you have scheduling conflicts they should be resolved ahead of time so that you can be placed within a different time slot, day or classroom area.

The instructor is completely liable to provide refunds to students if service advertised is in default for any reason. If there are repeated complaints by students advisement of services will be due and if the problem persists there may be disciplinary actions taken; i.e., report to LL, exclusion from services, ban from property.

Quality Control

=============================

Finally. We ask that our fee based instructors of academic subjects carry at the very least a B.A., B.S. of the subjects/or related to area of instruction verifiable from an accredited academic institution. These credentials will be verified through the instituion provided.

If you are a retired instructor and no longer have licensing credentials we still need you. We would just like to know that you can teach what you say you can teach.

You are also asked to provide a syllabus/curriculum/preview of class instruction to Verum's Place prior to the beginning of the class.

Classroom Spaces

=============================

There are two structures of classroom space available to educators.

Public and Private spaces. Public spaces are in open areas and subject to drop-ins from other areas, while the private use areas are limited to educators and students registered for classes.

Additonal educational resources.
